The Central Information Point at Paddock Village Hall is open Monday to Friday 9am - 4.30pm. Our staff can help you find information on health related topics, find out about local groups, organisations or training, book a place on our courses or therapy sessions and give you information about local activities or events.

Computer Open Access
The computer facilities at Paddock Learning Centre are open every Friday from 9am to 4pm for visitors who can use the web, send emails, scan images and access a range of software including Microsoft Office, Dreamweaver 8 and Photoshop.

Learning Centre Course Programme Courses For Older People
 
 
New Courses from January 2009:

Moving-on IT Course:
start date: 19 January, Monday 10:00-12:00


This course is designed to build upon the skills developed in our beginner's introductory course. We will explore word-processing, spreadsheets, internet, Email and operating the computer in more detail.

Office IT:
start date: 21 January, Wednesday 9:30-12:30


This course is targeted at people looking for a job and wanting to develop their computer skills. Once you have completed this course you will have a more detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Spreadsheets…).

Internet and Email:
start date: 22 January, Thursday 10:00-12:00

The aim of this course is to give learners a basic understanding of how the internet works, enable to use the internet and search on the web. Students will be able to make an own email address, learn how to send and receive emails, attach and send files.

Web Design:
start date: 20 January, Tuesday 10:00-12:00

This course is designed to introduce learners the basic techniques of creating a website using Dreamweaver and image-editing for the web. Participants will learn how to set up a website, create linked pages and publish to the Web.

Digital Photography:
start date: 22 January, Thursday 10:00-12:00

The course is suitable for those with a very basic competence in using a computer and an interest in getting the most out of their digital camera. This course is aimed at developing your image editing skills with Photoshop, learning how to improve the quality of your digital images, store your pictures safely and efficiently, and understand the printing process.


Computing for over 60's:
start date: 19, 21 January, Monday, Wednesday 1:30-3:30pm

A 12 week programme for older people that will help you gain new skills with the computer, improve your confidence and meet new people in a friendly atmosphere.


"Get Online" Course:

ongoing, Tuesday afternoon 1.30-3.30pm

“Drop-in” and learn about the following topics online:
Using a Computer, Using Email, Using Public Services Online, Using the Web, Using Online Searches, Using Digital Cameras, Understanding Job Hunting Online, Understanding Shopping Online, Understanding E-Bay Auctions Online, Understanding Music Online and a lot more…

This course is free to unemployed people or those working less than 16 hours a week. A charge of £2 per hour will be made for those working more than 16 hours a week.
